I hate to tell you this but your first option should be finishing those GED classes or getting your high school diploma. Without it, your options are very, very limited. And with a baby on the way, you're not going to get much more per hour than what will cover your daycare costs with both of you working.

The first thing you need to do is see about getting Public Assistance. I am a firm believer that if you want to work but do not have the means to do it (yet) then its ok to get help as long as it is not a permanent thing. Get on public assistance, food stamps etc, that will help cut the cost of your food bill every month, and you can also get WIC which will help with baby formula etc. So while you are at home pregnant, you can be studying to get your GED, and then you can take the test. A few months after the baby is born you can get a job. Daycare Assistance will be beneficial at this point. Hope this helps.

You both need to work toward your GED... otherwise expect a lifetime of low income and unstable employment. In the meantime, you can do work at home. Let neighbors, friends, and family know that you do laundry, ironing, sewing, baby sitting, and other things for a reasonable fee. If you DON'T take my advice and get your GED, you have condemned yourself and your child to poverty. I know... I work with kids with parents just like you... uneducated and unable to support them... and your child will likely follow your path... so try to break the cycle and make something of your life so that both you and your family will thrive instead of merely survive.

You can work while your pregnant! Actually, my advice to you would be to try and get assisatance. Go back and get your GED and then get into Community College or a Trade school so you can get a job. It doesn't hurt to call the college and tell them your situation and ask about financial aid and what kind of programs they offer.

if you need to work while pregnant, get something that you will not be on your feet too much, yet gives you some freedom of movement. I would recommend a call center if you have one locally.
