I'm thinking of a place to move to, but not too far that it'll take hours. I moved from NYC to upstate NY and its takes two hours both ways, every day....I am also considering Katy and Sugar Land.

Pearland to downtown houston is about 30 minutes
Katy and Sugarland will be about one hour.
If you do not have kids, you can also consider the Heights area, 10-15 minutes to downtown, but not as safe as the other areas

Pearland is a little further, but 288 is generally a faster commute to downtown.

Katy will be a nightmare until I-10 gets finished (under construction), but the Park and Ride Bus System works pretty well.

I have never lived in Sugar Land, but it seems that 59 is always a nightmare.

Not that long!!! 30 minutes or less....
Katy would be a long drive to Sugarland.
I live in Richmond.
I'd consider Richmond or Sugarland...
They are really close!

This is a job for Mapquest, which will give you the exact road distance as well as driving directions. See www.mapquest.com.

I would check Mapquest - go from zip code to zip code....and that can give you the distance and time it takes to get there
