When am i gonna use the FireWire connectors? beside the speed are they the same as USB?

The best thing about firewire is that you get more power from the port than USB gives you. It lets you run external hard drives and things from the port that USB would need an external power supply for. Some laptops will also boot off the firewire port.

firewire is mainly for digital video cameras, if you want to edit video on your PC. the speed is actually better because it can maintain a higher transfer rate than usb, which claims 480 mbps but usually drops down during transfer. also, the connector is different and firewire is less prominent on pc's, which usually have 4-6 usb ports or more.
