Need more details, but the courts absolutely have those powers. The powers of equity allow judges to proscribe unique sentences, including the method. So yes, they can, and i would not recommend violating any part of it! Judges do NOT like to be challenged.

The court is the power of and law of our land. You must do what you are told to do by the court, exactly the way you are told to do it or you will suffer further consequences.

If a judge tells someone to do something, they are compelled to do it. Period, the end. The last thing one should want to do is cross a judge. They have memories like elephants, and they will remember you. So whatever the judgement is, the individual should take it and do the right thing. Then do him or herself a monumental favor and stay out of trouble.

Wow... confusing.
I am guessing that your talking about probation or court ordered community service? Maybe?
Well, the point of a sentence is to punish you for your crime. So, that's why you have to do it their way.
