I am a gulf war vet,, a police officer and a law-abiding tax paying citizen.

Yet I still remember an old truly patriotic rally cry and firmly believe it.

DON'T TREAD ON ME!

Many forget,,,,,,,we OWN this country, next time you go to the poles to vote remember it. There are many choices other than Republican or Democrat forget who swindled, got bribed or stole millions of dollars to run a campaign and vote with a clear conscience,, not just for the lesser of two evils.

No I am not feeling too partriotic these days. I am sort of ashamed of my country. Especially with how people are letting themselves be bamboozled. I still have hope though, it appears we are beginning to open our eyes. It's funny to me how we call it healing and moving on or we have better things to do, when we fail to protect what is right and prosecute what is wrong. Why not let all criminal activities and murderers go free and fail to pursue them so the victims can move on and begin to heal?? Oh wait, isn't that why we prosecute criminals!!

Your quote from the local town official reminds me a lot of what I'd heard some women say about the fathers of their children. These men were alcoholic, drug using, abusive and poor providers and neglectful of their children. The women would say "it doesn't matter what kind of a father he is, he's still their father." They never take into account the damage that is being done. When their children wound up being substance abusers and following in the path of their fathers . . . they still kept their minds closed.
