I have a geforce mx 4000 128 mb graphic card. The mainboard is an P4vmm2 version 1.0 (pentium 4) -american megatrend 2001- bios release may 29, 2002. socket 478. 1 gig ram, windows home xp service pack 2. When we try to put the graphic card in, the computerès red light turns on but nothing happens. We had unistalled the previous drivers of the last video card and followed directions to the key. (Yes it is an AGP card in an AGP slot). Why does it not want to work?

The AGP slot is under automatique (the other card was an AGP too)

Did you go into the Bios & enable video to the agp slot?? If you didnt have an agp vid card before you should have to do this. By default it might have the apg slot turned off..Does the computer come on without the video card in? If not then something else has gone out.

ok then try the vid card in another machine, If it still doesnt work then you know something is wrong with it & you need to call the manufacturer. Also look @ the vid card when you first turn on the machine, does it have a fan on it....if it does then see if it spins up, If it doesnt then the card could be bad or not getting any power. Then call manufacturer. Also some vid cards now come with their own seperate power souce, if you look around on the card you should see where you can plug up to it from your power plugs off your power supply, email me if you need too.

That card is an 8x AGP card and your motherboard only supports 4x AGP.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
