I first set a timer for 20 minutes, and I don't eat two hours or more prior to meditating, sit in a comfortable chair, close my eyes and take a couple of deep breaths. Then I start to breath regularly in and out (through the nose). Then I focus on the breathing.

If thoughts come in, I gently acknowledge them and re focus on the mechanics of breathing. As one practices this ones mind becomes open and thought free for longer and longer stretches and one becomes 'receptive' to feelings, intuitions, and perceptions. (and other things as well....but that's for each person to experience for themselves) optimally, do this twice a day for best results. Last couple of weeks, I've really slacked off and I've noticed the difference in attitude and physically.

I was skeptical when I first started, but it works, really does.

Meditation is alot of things.
I practice Zen Meditation which is moving meditation.
I meditate when I work which I let everything flow and go with the flow and things work out.
There is also the quite meditation which you think of nothing, but you always think of something.. Just relax and don't get attached to anything.. It's like watching big white clouds passing on a beutiful blue sky.. Here in Downey Califronia, it's paradise because we have these great blue skys... Yes, I know, yes it's near L.A. but it's beutiful here..
Just watch the clouds pass by which you practice the same with your thoughts, just let them pass.....

The Best Way For Me is to cross you legs in the shape of a pretzel , close your eyes, breath deeply, and clear your mind. Or simply try turning on your favorite relaxing music and open your favorite book.

My psychology teacher says you should focus on ONE word. any word it doesnt matter. ive tried this and other forms of meditation none of them have worked for me im still trying. i find it too difficult to block out distractions and random thoughts so i give up easily. i hope you have better luck.

sit in comfortable chair, close eyes, blot out every sensation and thought by thinking only of a non sensical word Do not force yourself to think of it just let it float through your consciousness.
