This question is not in the travel section because I'm concerned about the political stability or lack of it in that part of the mid-east.

I'm not interested in who's right or wrong over there--just if she should go (p.s. I like my mother-in-law).

Thank you Peter Piper or the origin of that quote. I guess my mother twisted it. Ha. I knew she shouldn't go--I keep telling not to, but she says everything is fine over there. Thank you.

Hey I just saw your question about the quote "Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to do [or] die"

The reason that you couldn't find anything I guess is because it's actually "theirs but to do and die"

It is from the ode "Charge of The Light Brigade," by Alfred, Lord Tennyson about a battle in the Crimean war.

And no, it is not safe to travel at this time. There is a shaky cease-fire in place that may hold or may fall to pieces, depending to some extent on the negotiations brokered by the Egyptians for the release of one of the Isreali POWs. At any minute both Hamas and Hezbollah could start rocketing Isreali towns again, which would likely provoke a vigorous response.

It is safe in the sense that the chances that something will happen are pretty low... a lot of people visit Israel and nothing happens. But, it is still an unstable region. There is nothing about the month of Feb. that makes it a better time to go. Since she will be with a group that probably has a plan and is concerned with safety I wouldn't be too worried. Just talk to her and make sure she is planning to travel with safety in mind.

It hasn't been safe since Isreal declared statehood, and it never will be, Isreal sits in the middle of a huge cesspool of tyrants and poverty that happens to have a pool of oil near the surface. But you can't be guided in life by fear, you have to live, deliberately, in spite of it.

Until Israel pulls out of Palestine, how would want to go and give validation to Israel's behavior.
