It depends greatly on the camera and the settings you use.

At 5 megapixels/JPEG fine, expect a couple hundred.
At 3.1 megapixels/JPEG fine, expect about 500.

If you set the JPEG compression to standard, it will probably increase the capacity (in number of pictures) by around 80% perhaps.

Also, the size of the picture will vary greatly depending on the subject material. Detailed textures with fine high-contrast features will take up a lot of space, while pictures containing more gradual contrast shifts will take less. At 3.1 megapixels with JPEG fine compression, I have seen pictures take anywhere from 500k - 1.6MB.

This entirely depends on the pixel resolution, file format, and compression amount of the pictures you take.

My Nikon digital camera generally takes 1200x1600 (2MP) pictures saved as JPEG that are as large as 500KB. In this case, a 512 drive would hold over 1,000 pictures.

But newer cameras usually take larger pictures, so this is not a general rule. It depends on how large the picture files are. You can cram more pictures onto a drive by making the images smaller and re-compressing them at higher settings. They won't look quite as good, but they'll take up less space.

512 MB should hold up to 250 pictures-often a digital camera picture is about 2-3 MB in size

Approx. 400 high res. digital pictures. It really depends upon the size. If you plug in your jump drive and go to the start menu, click my computer, then right click on your jump drive and go to properties, it will tell you how much memory you have left. That will help you with deciding how many pictures you can/want to put on there.

It really depends on how many megapixels the pictures are. If the pictures are ~5 MP, then you can expect the card to hold around 200 pictures or so.

it depends on the resolution of the pictures and the megapixels of the camera you are taking them with. If you have like 1200x800 resolution picture is usualy about 4-5 megabytes.
