Ask your High School Choir teacher.... trust me... they know what to do and what to sing... If you are homeschooled or don't gor to high school find your local high school and do ask the choir teacher because they will help you find a song that matches the music and theater..

I'm going with the following:
"There are words He doesn't Say" from Romance/Romance
It is a majestic ballad
"On the Street where you Live" from My Fair Lady
another gorgeous ballad, great for a younger voice
"Corner of the Sky" from Pippin for upbeat
or
"I Can Do That" from Chorus Line
Good Luck!!

I was going to say, like Jess, Les Mis is a good option, maybe even "Red and Black", I was recently in a production of it peformed entirely by students and Enjolras was especially good cause he was only 15 and it sounded great with such a young voice, I like "Stars" from Les Mis aswell but I'm not sure if thats Tenor or Bass, I'm pretty sure it's Tenor.
And for upbeat, how about "Dancing through life" from Wicked, thats a great song, although there is more than one person singing in it.

A good ballad meant for a yong man, from the musical Sweeny Todd is "Nothing's Gonna Harm You."
For uptempo you might try one of Adam's two songs from the first act of The Apple Tree.

Work in a casting agency has given me great advice on this.
Never sing anything from:
Les Miserables
Phantom
Miss Saigon
Rent
or anything that is hugely popular.
They have heard them a million times and they get sick of them.
Try something from a little known show or one from a few years back.
Suggestions:
"Try Me" - Little Me
"Those Magic Changes" - Grease
"Suddenly Seymour" - Little Shop
"What Do I Need with Love" - Thoroughly Modern Millie
I hope this helps!
Good luck!

For a good ballad I'd suggest something out of 'Les Miserables'. 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' would be a good audition song, though 'Who Am I' and 'What Have I Done' would be good to. For an up beat song you could do 'It Takes Two' out of 'Hairspray', or maybe 'Grow For Me' out of 'Little Shop of Horrors'.

What show are you auditioning for at CMT? You should pick songs that not only show off your voice but are similar in musical style to their show (or season).
