1993 Lexus GS 300 sometimes drives rough. Sometimes it shakes even when idle. transmission is good. Sometimes it also vibrates and hesitate to change gears when accelerating. A friend said it could be the ECM ( engine control module)... any suggestion?

I think its because it's too old and too small usually SUVS don't have that kind of problem, also u can feel small cars glide when your driving too fast

If your car has been tuned recently and the problem persists, it could be your torque converter. Torque converters transfer power from the engine to the transmission. It is the automatic transmissions version of a clutch. On rare occasions they can get out of balance and cause the car to vibrate at certain speeds and at idle.

If your compression is low on two neibouring cylinders it is probably a bad head gasket. Otherwise you can do a wet test by squirting a half ounce of oil in the cyliders before testing the compression. If this improves the reading that indicates bad piston rings and means a rebuild. If it does not improve the reading it is likely faulty valves which means repair cylider heads.

Might be a motor mount.. My mom had one break on her car a few years ago and it makes the motor unstable so it shakes the car.
