Yep. Jen Hudson was the best thing the movie had going for it. She deserves an award over anyone else playing in the movie, not taking anything from Eddie Murphy. He was great, too.

Yeah. I thought it was good, but imbalanced. They wanted it to be a musical, but it only felt like a musical in three scenes - the one where J. Hudson sang, the one in the alley with the guys singing and dancing and one other scene I can't remember. All of the other singing took place in a music studio so it just felt like a natural part of the movie. It felt weird when they broke out singing at odd times. But the acting was incredible.
