Monopoly, Chess, Life, Sorry, Scrabble, Connect Four, Mastermind, Operation, Backgammon, Trivia Pursuit, Yatzee and Memory. I do play a few now like Scrabble, Trivia Pursuit, and Monopoly and Yatzee. If you have kids, or OPKs (other people's kids) like me, I'm an Aunt, it's a great way to spend time with them. It's also fun to play with adults and turn the board games into drinking games! Tequila shot for every yatzee!!!

Check the box for the age, usually those are pretty accurate for skill level and ability. Although if you have a child who is really interested in playing games or reading at a higher level than his/her age group, they might be able to play a harder game. My 7-year-old loves to play Life and Clue, both games which are geared toward kids who are 8 and older. The first board game I would recommend is Candy Land because all it requires is recognizing colors and the ability to count to 2. Taking turns is the hard part in any game for young children. Memory is a good first game, but use only a few of the cards--all of them is way too many for the little ones. Then there are games like Hi-Ho Cherry-O, Hungry Hippos, etc. Look in the game section of any store and you'll find lots of choices.

We always played Monopoly, Life, Dominoes, Guess Who, and Candy Land. My kids and I love Apples to apples. They have jr. edition of it but the boys are getting too old for that one so we use the regular edition. It's also a great way for them to learn. We also play swap which is a card game similiar to Uno only 5x more fun. And it costs less than $5. Imaginiff is a blast too.

when I was very little, Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders were my favorites- I also had a game about Uncle Wiggly.
When I got older I enjoyed Monopoly (my sister played a lot of that with me when I had really bad insomnia while I was pregnant) , Life, Aggrevation, a whole lot of UNO, Sorry.
Now I enjoy almost any Cranium game, Sorry, Scrabble (hubby and I play this a whole lot!), Balderdash, Tribond and Pictionary

Pop yo' colla and holla for Candy Land! Nothing beats the thrill of racing your little piece in hopes of imaginary glory at the palace of the gumdrop king, dodging the evil sticky mollasses monster, and the thrill of taking that little shortcut. It was pretty much the greatest game of the time.

I, still sort of a child, like to play Othello (sort of challenging), Monopoly (fun, but drags on and on), Uno (FUN FUN FUN!), and Solitare (Good Card Game). Oh , and also Risk.
