Use Rubbing alcohol at what ever tempurature. It will melt the ice with no problem. Hot water can crack a cold windshield

It depends on how cold it is! You might want to be careful if it is really cold because putting warm or hot water on your windshield could result in cracking, because applying something hot on something glass that is could causes to much stress on the atoms that make it up, resulting in cracking or breakage!

I wouldn't do that. I would buy some magnesium chloride. It's a special chemical that melts the snow, but it makes your car really dirty, and if you don't wash it off after a while, your paint will come off. Otherwise one of those scrapers should do well.

It can crack the windshield. It won't every time. You might be able to get away with it, but I don't do it. Just warm the car up and use the heater/defroster. Windshields are expensive.

I do it all the time, but it is really better to brush it off first. It wont hurt the glass

I think it's ok but they also have scrapers and sprayes to melt the ice too

I thought warm water would crack the windshield. Don't use the windshield wipers or you could burn out your motor.
