What you are describing is called orthostatic hypotension. Blood pressure drops when going from lying to standing. Blood pressure is suppose to go up when going from a lying to a sitting position or from sitting to standing. We educate persons who have this, to make position changes slowly. When you are lying down and sit up, stay there for 15 - 30 seconds Then stand & stay there for another 15 - 30 sec. Next time you go to the Dr they can do orthostatic BP's to determine if this is what you have. They will do a BP lying, then sitting, then standing. In the meantime, make position changes slowly to see if that helps.

Can't say for certain, but perhaps you ought to keep a close check on your blood pressure; sounds like yours may be low and the blood in your brain rushes to your feet on standing. Check with your doctor so you can establish your normal blood pressure. Your's, like my own, may be lower than normal.

okay, well this happens to me all of the time. i didn't pay enough attention to it, and i was in a track meet and i blacked out while running. i scared everyone to death. i had to get an mri done and get my vision checked out. my doctor said that i was suffering from migranes and had to drink a lot more water. so, drink more water, dont get up too fast, and if it happens often, go to the doctor. i still don't drink a lot of water, and i still black out a lot. its just not a big deal to me anymore.so, drink more water!

You might have a condition called Vertigo. I know several people who have Vertigo. Go to your doctor and get checked. Young people can have this problem also. If it is, in fact, Vertigo, it can be managed with pills (similar to seasick pills) and just being aware of things (e.g. not getting up too fast, etc.).

Are you taking any prescription medications? Some Antidepressents are notorious for this effect such as Remeron. If you are taking meds, please review possible side-effects and contraindications.
