i want to know for someone else if they can use their mobile phone to get broadband access on their pc by connecting it somehow. she is on t-mobile pay as you go

Nope, the data transfer rate of an ordinary 2G mobile phone is much less than what you would expect to be 'broadband' speed. It is possible to download data through a mobile phone onto a computer, but it will be very slow, and on PAYG, probably very expensive.

PAYG might not work for broadband; you'd have to check with T. They're more likely to include it with a contract BUT if it's anything like Vodafone, you pay approximately 10x the price doing it with your phone. 3G data transfer with a plug-in Voda card (PCMCIA) costs one tenth of what it does on a Voda handset.

Anyway, bluetooth from your PC to your phone is the normal way. Some handsets have USB cables which are a tad more reliable. But it took me ages to make my Nokia 6280 do that properly. Much easier, as well as cheaper, with the little card.

hi chez is me the pool shark my browser hung. thanks ie7. i think that you can get bband on tmob pay as you go. orange gives free bband if you have a contract. or you can get mobile broadband on a monthly subscription.
