You've just been in a car accident and your vehicle needs to be towed. One of the first things that might come to your mind is, "How much is this going to cost?"

You call three different towing companies and get 3 different rates:

Allied Auto Towing charges: $45 hook up within a 2-mile radius, and $2 per mile for any towing over 2 miles.
Hank's Towing charges: $40 hook up within a 3-mile radius, and $3 per mile for any towing over 3 miles.
Speedy Towing Service Inc. charges a flat towing rate of $75.00, but will not tow anything over 20 miles.

Your car needs to be towed 17 miles to your uncle's store where he say's he'll fix it for free if you can get it there.
How much will it cost you using Allied? How much will it cost you using Sal's? How much will it cost you using Speedy?
Which company is your best bet? Why?

1.) Write a function for each of the three towing companies, making sure each one is labeled.
*** Remember that the first couple of miles are included with the first two companies, so you need to include that in your function. Think about it before you write.***
2.) Write out a cost for f(17) for each towing company.
3.) Explain which company is your best bet and why.

Allied Auto=45+15*2=$75
function C=45+2(n-2)

Hank's Towing=40+14*3=$82
function C=40+3(n-3)

Speedy=$75
function=75+0*n where n<=20

the company chosen could be either the Allied or Speedy.

OK, I'm going to help but not do it for you.
Allied(d) = 45 + (d - 2)*2
where d is the total distance, which is going to be 17.
The 45 is the initial amount. (d-2) is because the first two miles are included in the initial amount. and the *2 is becuase it is two dollars for each mile.

For Hank's and Speedy, you can substitute different numbers for the initial amount, the radius, and the cost per mile to get those equations (hint: for Speedy, you can set two of the three numbers to zero).
