Is it true that it caused the Earth's rotation to speed up, by moving a tectonic plate closer to the Earth's center of gravity? Is there an article anywhere on the web discussing this? I've had a paleogravity theory on my web site for years discussing a shrinking Earth...

From University of Wisconsin:

"Question: What effect did this earthquake have on the rotation of the earth? Answer: Richard Gross at JPL has modeled the coseismic effect on the Earth's rotation of the December 26 earthquake in Indonesia by using the PREM model for the elastic properties of the Earth and the Harvard centroid-moment tensor solution for the source properties of the earthquake. The result is:

change in length of day: -2.676 microseconds
polar motion excitation X : -0.670 milliarcseconds
polar motion excitation Y: 0.475 milliarcseconds "

Not so much to notice, but there!

Search on "earthquake change earth axis" to find other sites relating to this.

yeah check out PBS cause they had a thing on the earth quake. NOVA? They said that like an ice skater spinning and pulling their arms in making them go faster. Thats the same thing that happened to the earth. The earth day is like a couple second or a nano secound shorter.

I think you mean the Dec 26 04 Indonesia quake.

Yes, I heard it affected the Earth's rotation and the length of the day (!) when it happened, even if only very slightly.

Yes . It has affected the rotation time by some micro seconds only. The effect can be seen only after thousands of years. After some billion years all our prediction of astrology will change. But it is possible to change even the time of rotation by few minutes. But don't ask me the way. Believe it it is really possible.
