I don't think conservative influence will make the USA a better place so I would not want to maximize their way of thinking.

What 'conservatives' are you talking about, real conservatives or the power hungry, corrupt, hypocritical idiots in DC.

If by 'conservative' you mean following sound fiscal policies, pushing for smaller government and more states rights and NOT interfering with other peoples lives. Now those USED to be conservative principals, where you went wrong is letting the hypocritical extreme Christians to take over your party. You do that and I'm right behind you.

But you could start by stopping your pedophile elected representatives from soliciting young boys no matter what it does to the balance of power, you could stop believing drug addicts on your radio shows and drug using gay priests in your churches.

You could tell your government that deficit spending in the 21st century is just as bad as you said it was in the 20th century when you closed the government down to force a non-republican white house to balance the budget, which they did when you thought it was impossible.

You could get mad at the members your last ethics committee that changed the rules to allow Tom Delay to get away with infringements three times, the same ethics committee that took 120 hours of testimony about if the Clinton's misused the white house travel office but took 12 hours of testimony into the Presidents possible involvement in the Valiere Plame affiar - oh and while we are at it exposing our CIA operatives...thats just naughty okay.

So if you are going to preach about Conservatism, then actually take the time to be conservatives, because what you are today is as far from that ideal as Chairman Mao.

I enjoyed the posts about shipping democrats out of the country, maybe you Repubs are closer to Chairman Mao than I thought as you sure as hell don't grasp the first thing about what it means to be an American. Personally I blame the school system.

When USA stops being so arrogant and more tolerant of other cultures and other countries citizens, and stop patronising those not so well off as such an affulent country that would be a great start !

Also, when USA Leader asks UK for military help, to assist its own troops in Afghanistan - the source of the aftermath of 9/11 alledged terrorists training and hiding grounds - then, upon getting UK/NATO troops deployed to the theatre there, proceeds to withdraw 77% of USA troops.....??? That is never a good attitude to adopt towards its allies!!!

The US will be a better place as long as we keep expressing opinions from all sides and listening to each other and coming up with solutions to problems.

I lean conservative too but almost everyone has something to contribute.

We do pretty well at the polls when our issues get discussed. Not always, but often . . .

First find some true Goldwater Conservatives, add a bit of Gerald Ford charisma, some Reagan oratory and Teddy Roosevelt balls and you may have a fighting chance

That's an interesting opinion. Sadly, conservatives (and I mean, true conservatives, like Coburn R-OK) had six years and they failed miserably.

In fact, I would argue that the last six years is what made guys like Richard Dawkins so incredibly popular.

Be careful what you wish for, that's all.

You must first make the case that conservative philosophy will make the country a better place.

I agree with Adam D. That man makes sense and can write like nobody's business. He should start a blog.
