The war's stated purposed was to disarm Saddam of him WMDs. There were no WMDs, so it was a failure there. Then they spun it into regime change and liberation, but even though Saddam and his henchmen were removed from power, plenty of key Baath Party and military leadership remain in place, and the people are stuck in a civil war. So that was a failure, too. The purpose was never, as far as I can remember, to raise the trading on the stock markets, as far as I can remember. The Presidents State of the Union addresses and his special addresses to the nation didn't inclue the stock market as a reason for war, did it?

Historically, yes, war is good for the economy. However, it is not the only thing that is doing its magic on the stock market. Jobless rates are low, consumer confidence is fairly high, interest rates are still fairly low on loans, the housing market, although slowing some, is still going strong.
There are a lot of factors that go into what causes market fluctuations. The war is only a part of that.

The Dow is making all-time highs not because of the war, rather it is because we are having such a mild winter here in the northeast. (Post hoc ergo propter hoc)
War is good for us because the Dow is making all-time highs, therefore we should open a new front in the war. How about attacking Andorra? (Reductio ad absurdium)
So get your logic straight, babe. And please, be a good citizen and never register to vote. On behalf of thinking Americans, I thank you in advance.

no, the war in iraq will have high reprecussions in the long run for th economy. the short run is not affected. and, plus, the US economy is not a war time industry as it was in WWII, its totally different. war isnt good for us, it will be bad for us in the future if it continues.
