Hi, i am considering applying to be a probation officer, when the next recruitment campaign starts.However I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice of what the assesement centre is like, what is excpected of you,ie presentations etc...
Any usefull comments will be greatly recieved...

An Assement Centre will test lots of things like .. if you can read,write and do simple maths.. sometimes you might get more test ... ones that test how well you can work under presure and what type of personalty you have.

Try and get some voluntary work with your local Probation or other offender charities. Try prison visiting. This way you will get to know what your client group are really like. This will carry you a long way. Doing the training is easy enough, but don't assume all offenders are thick, far from it!. Make sure any presentation is spelt correctly. Never forget who they are, where they are, and what they have done. When you do your presentation, do not wear low cut tops or short skirts, be professional.

forget about the assesment centre, fink about the 2 years you will have to spend in a prison enviroment first, before you become unpopular with certain members of society
