Depends on the manufacturer and how dirty the oven is. I just cleaned mine Sunday, and it took three hours. There can be an odor, which is harmful to pet birds.

You will need to remove all knobs, drip pans and burners from the stove top, and if you have a drawer beneath your oven you have to remove everything from the drawers... DO NOT use oven cleaners in a self cleaning oven, it will RUIN the surface.

this process generally takes between four and six hours. Of course, check your manual. Your oven will heat to about 600 degrees and it basically blows up the general mess and cooked on gunk. It's great when finished just wipe it out. LOOOVE IT !!!! Also there may be some odor

I just bought a self clean oven that takes an hour and 15 min................I pay more in hydor than in time cleaning sweety..................buy easy-off self clean in the blue can and wait thirty min and it's as clean as a whistle without the bill...Good luck
