No way, the Packers only beat one team with a winning record. The Giants would have been much better playing the Packers weak schedule.

The NFC is so pathetic this year that only the Bears and Saints deserve to be in the playoffs.
Football is too physical to have a play-off like baseball - you'd have to schedule in an off week between the regular season and the playoffs just in case. Besides, the tiebreakers normally work a little better. It gets a little bizarre when two 'playoff teams' are tied with a 1-4 record against common opponents and the 'strength of victories' for both teams is well below .500. It's more like determining which team is more deserving of being kicked out of the playoffs than which team deserves to be in them.
Still, I'd say the Packers, Rams, and 49ers are all better than the Giants right now.

The fact is that they did not make the playoffs. They has plenty of chances to win some early that got away, but that is why they play the games. The Packers may actually be better off to have killed the Bears and not made the playoffs this year. They are very young and need another draft to be a contender. I agree that the NFC looks pretty weak this year.
Favre and the Packers will be back next year.....the Giants will lose Tiki and keep their coach. Look for the Giants to fade fast.

I would like to see the Packers and the Giants played a playoff game to see who would get into in the playoffs because they did not face off against each other and were both 7-5 in the conference but that is not possible and the /giants did play a stronger schedule by beating 3 playoff teams to Green Bay's.

Nope! Besides, the Packers or Giants won't advance very far... and we all know that the AFC will win the Super Bowl anyway..

whats the difference if one 8-8 team makes it over another 8-8 team? Probably neither one will or would do anything in the playoffs, so it really doesn't matter.

What if 5 teams have the same record? Who plays then?
I heard there were over 2000 different possibilites going into Sun's games...hard to believe it is as simple as having one play-in game.

No. If there was a 4-way tie (which is certainly possible), it would takes two weeks to break the tie, and would push back the Superbowl. It's not practical. A 5-way tie would cause chaos.

I'm a Giants fan and I think they're pitiful this year. I think they should fire the whole team and start from scratch. How they made it in, I don't know, but they won't last the first round.
