Ransom Olds of Oldsmobile Corp. created the first publically available internal combustion car in 1897. Henry Ford had nothing to do with the invention of the automobile. He invented the moving assembly line which made production more cost effective.

Richard Dudgeon in 1866. It was powered by steam. Henry ford invented the first internal combustion engine car sometime in the 1920's.
