It bugs me when I hear people use the word "Power" in front of words. Like, I had a power-walk this morning, or a quick power-lunch or power nap.

From newsreaders to politicians, the use of the word "AGREEANCE" is rife. When will people learn that you may be in agreement with something but there is no such word as agreeance. And as for what I'd like to do or have done to these people....well all my suggestions verge on the illegal, so the less said the better. I wonder how many are in agreement with me on this word.

The new catch phrase in elementary schools is "make quality decisions", as if a 6 year old can! That's probably why the kids in the US today are so rude and disrespectful. Instead of saying "stop that right now" when a child is beating on another the teacher says "now little Johnny, let's make quality decisions" because she doesn't want to hurt "little Johnny's" character. Oh please!

The words "dude" and "like" are used way too much. Use of them more than once in a conversation exhibits a severe lack of vocabulary (usually by young people). I would stick them with a pin if they used the words out of normal English context.

Yes, I hate that one too. I normally reply "I have an interface window at 11 am".
An Americanism creeping in over here is 24/7 - or as I correct them "all the time".
Another Americanism is to put -ize at the ends of words that don't need it: conceptualize (a concept - surely), volcalize (talk)

I HATE when people say "I seen you at mall last night" I seen, we seen, they seen, etc. Grrrr...
Then there's the ridiculously overused and most abused "awesome" "like" "really" "cool" "keep up the good work" "are you serious" "seriously" "how are you"...don't you just love when you see a person and you say hello and that person replies, "Hey, how are you doing?" and then keeps walking??? If you're going to ask me how I am doing, then STOP so that I can tell you!

My 13 yr old son has been running around saying , "uber-ponage"...
ie: "ooooo a new IPod! Uber-ponage!"
I just want to chuck a dictionary at his head everytime I hear him say that.
And also, "Sweet". My hubby had a habit for a year or two of saying that. ie: Honey I bought you some Dr. Pepper. His reply, "Sweet!"

"touch base" is not a word; it's a phrase.
Everytime someone says that to you, respond by saying, "Yeah, let's connect." Eventually, they will approach you saying, "Memphis, let's connect, " and you won't have to hear the phrase "touch base " anymore.

"DOABLE" - as in "Is that doable?"
This is the ultimate in lazy speaking. I was astonished to find it actually in the dictionary. Why can't people use an extra syllable and say "accomplishable", or skip using "is" because it's passive and not appropriate, and instead say:
Can it be done? (Still passive, not assigned to anyone)
Can you do it? (to the point - YOU are assigned)
