First, I was bringing attention to Mike Hunts Question on Yahoo,

Second, I know many infact All Races have been presecuted at some point in history but it seems as though when the Native Americans got their Apology and Reparations the good old USA forgot about the blacks, When the Japanese got their Apology and Reparations for the Interment camps the good old USA forgot about the blacks, when the Chinese got their got their Apology and Reparations the good old USA forgot about the blacks, The USA has Given Millions to the Jewish Holocaust fund. and the only reason racial profilling stopped is because of 911 now it's the Muslims that get it so yeah I guess this can be seen as a poor me thing but hey until i get reparations or even an Official apology from the US Government then i will continue to whine

I'm not in denial,
But I have to say I am beginning to think that blacks are conceted,
I mean you think you are the ONLY race that has been discriminated against, and you are american too, You may have a differant color skin, but if you were born in the states, then you are AMERICAN, get over it.

History lesson,

Did you know during the slave labor, Catholic Irish, where considered a LOWER class that the slaves?

In fact through out history it's the IRISH that have faced the harshest forms of racism, and discrimination.

There was a movement for Irish slaves as well, but it never passed because the plantation owners thought the Irish weren't "trustworthy"

But through all this, where is the Irish history Month?

I know Blacks are discriminated against, but your not the ONLY race, in fact it seems pretty steriotypical that you think you are.

Addition,

But of all the "apologies" that america has given, your race is the only one that has an entire month dedicated to it. There isn't a Native american History Month, or a Japenese History Month. Of all the races in the whole world,
Yours is THE ONLY ONE that has an entire month dedicated to your history. And there was in fact a movement for the decendants of slaves and slave owners.

The families decendants of plantation owners were in fact required to pay certain ammounts, with a public apology, to the decendants of the slaves.
Plus, What was the whole civil rights movement about, it was MAINLY focused on the black minorities. and if you haven't noticed the caucations are becomming more of a minority in the U.S.

So you have had your apology. What more do you want. For all americans to kiss your feet, sorry not gonna happen,When can we forget about the past, and move on?

And I don't ever recall any sorda apology for the Irish. In ANY form.

It is the African Americans that are in denial. Get an education, work hard for a living, treat ALL others with respect and quit calling yourself African American. If you were born here, you are an American, just like the rest of us. Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to honor your culture, but you don't hear the Irish, Italians, Greeks, Polish etc. consistently referring to themselves as "(native country) Americans." Stop calling yourselves "niggahz" and we won't either. In fact, we don't because were afraid of getting shot or stabbed. It is African Americans who have set the double standard. All of the African Americans that continue to complain about this country, demand reparations and say they are a minority are sadly disillusioned. Do yourselfa HUGE favor and take a lesson from Bill Cosby, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Warrick Dunn, Gayle Sayers, Walter Payton, etc etc. Stop encouraging the Jesse Jacksons of the world. I would no more contribute to the NAACP (which needs to be disbanded) than I would the KKK (which also needs to be disbanded.) Answer this question: If the US Government were willing to assign a fleet of ships for transport back to Africa, all expense paid first class accommodations, how many of you would get on the ship?

I only think that black Americans are treated second class when questions like these are asked. I get treated like crap because I don't speak very fluent Spanish here in America, where my Caribbean ancestors had to come and learn English from speaking French Creole and Spanish.

Some of the sharpest folks I work with have "black" skin. And they earned that from acheivement, not the color of their skin. Just like me. When are we going to stop this baiting crap? Yeah, some people are still going to be racists just as I will still encounter chauvinists. But the last thing they will do is make me a victim.

It certainly seems to me that the blacks who are born here think they have some sort of entitlement to opportunities they haven't worked for. I don't see that attitude in Haitians,, Jamaicans, or Africans who have settled here. They are here, working hard, and aren't running to the Rev, Jessee Jackson every time something goes wrong in their lives. If blacks consider themselves as second class, then that is what they have settled for. No one put them there. No one is holding them down.... but that is exactly what they want people to believe. It's not about denial... it's about making excuses . They have as much opportunity as anyone else to make a life here. It's 2007... become part of the reality.

To put another side (and not being American) could it also be the case that some blacks (sorry can't get the hang of this "Thingy" American - what's wrong with being an American American) are denial about their ability to do something about it? Is it, for some, a convenient excuse?

The only Americans being treated like 2nd class citizens deserve to be. And I don't care what nationality or race you are. If you think you're being treated as 2nd class then do something to improve yourself. (I want to add a joke that Michael Jackson did something--turned white--but that would just be wrong, so I won't)

If African Americans in general are so badly mistreated why in the heck are there any successful blacks?

We all choose to succeed or not. Women like to play the victim alot of times too and it gets them nowhere.

I will not deny that racism exists, but I feel that we all have the opportunity to make something of ourselves no matter our race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation - Actually our laws protect us in that manner.

Unfortunatley I don't think we will ever get the apology we deserve. To apologize would also require an admittance of guilt and a show of remorse and I just do not see that happening any time soon.

I'm in denial if your position is that they still are. Blacks have more opportunity now than they ever have. They are business leaders, educators, doctors, etc. If you limit yourself by charging that you don't have equality, you won't ever have it.

BTW, not all black people are from Africa.

I think it depends on where you are at. Some areas other minorities and even whites could be in the same boat.
