Horrible stories? Hmm..can't think of any. I can think of some horrible stories of boys who weren't circumcised though. Like all the ones who got infections and diseases. Not to mention the ones who had to be circumcised at an older age when it was embarrassing.

Besides, why is it horrible? These days it doesn't even hurt them. They have anesthetics they can put on it to numb it and they don't feel a thing.

Circumcision is NOT just a cosmetic procedure. It prevents against infection, disease, and eliminates his risk of getting cancer of the penis--yes, eliminates.

I think it's smart and responsible to get him circumcised.

It's the opposite with my husband and me...if we ever have a boy, I want him to be circumcised but he doesn't. My best friend had her son snipped and he did fine with it. Healed great and everything. She's a nanny and two boys she used to nanny for were not circumcised. They had to teach them how to clean themselves after going potty (you have to pull the foreskin back and clean). More and more parents are not circumcising their babies because recent studies proved old myths to be wrong (about how it's unhealthy or less sanitary) so basically it really comes down to a religious issue and of course personal preference. Kinda like cropping a dogs' ears or tail...not a necessity it just looks better. Also, supposedly an uncircumcised man gets more pleasure and gives more pleasure to a woman than a circumcised man (so you'd be helping him out in the future...lol). So, if you have a boy, you two need to sit down and go over pros and cons together and try to get him on board with you if its what you really want. Hope some of this helps.

It is definitely FALSE that medical associations do not recommend circumcision. Thats a big lie!
They are neither for nor against, they just leave the choice to parents.

Is it NOT true that the AAP (American Academy of Paediatrics) does not recommend circumcision. They simply say they leave the decision to parents. But now, after the offical studies proving circumcision protects against AIDS-HIV, the AAP has been discussing if it may be necessary to change their policy and recommend circumcision to all newborns as they used to do, so in the future we may see that the AAP advocates circumcision again.

Don't let people mislead you with FALSE info.

I have 2 sons and I had them both circumcised.
We didn't like the idea at first, but after we did research we got convinced of all the benefits.

Reasons:

--cleaner

--no infections

--protects agains HIV-AIDS, herpes, syphilis

--looks better (!)

--easy to do. They use anesthesia, so it's painless

--many uncircumcised men have problems later (one of my cousins didn't get circumcised at birth and he had SERIOUS problemes later with urinary infections, eventually got it done)

--most women prefer circumcised

--healthier

Those who are against may have been brain-washed by the "antis".

I'm very happy I had my two sons circumcied. It was so easy and quick. My husband watched it and I can *totaly* asure you that the boys were very comfortable all the time.

We are expecting a baby for march next year. If we have a son again we have no doubs, we will have him nicely circumcied
(I really think is just bad not to, they will regreat later)

Anyway, congratulations and best of all!

Sure when we were babies it was the normal thing to do. But now a days it is not nearly as common there are more uncircumcised babies in the USA and Canada then circumcised if you teach him how to clean it then there is no reason he would get an infection. I think that this excuse is for lazy people who don't want to teach their children how to clean it properly. There are risks to putting your baby under anesthetic.

I wouldn't be so worried about the teasing, but there are some good health reasons to have it done.

Try watching the UN aids study:

This is also a great link that shows Std transmission is cut in half by circumicion:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15593753/

new medical news about circumcision.

Circumcision is definately an earlier the better sort of thing! I would ask around, but I would expect it won't be hard to find a doctor to do the circumcison; and the longer you leave him uncircumcised the more likey he is to get a foreskin problem, and the more difficult a circumcision may become.

I had my sons circumcised after my youngest brother had tons of problems with his foreskin and needed to be circumcised!

It is much easier on a baby and its a good preventative step to future problems!

Lots of love,

Its not horrible but a man that is circumsized, the penis rubs on underwear and sensation is lost and has a less pleasurable sex life from a uncercumsized man. I know you dont want to think of your son doing the deed but he will love you later on!!!

The only problem with uncerumsised boys is cleansing you will not get stds and illness in that area if you keep it clean!! Afew minutes to clean is not all that hard. I have always associated anyone who only uses that "cleaner" excuse to be lazy. I chose that for my son hes 7 never had an infection, very healthy, no problems!!!!

From circa 1950-1980, circumcision was mandatory in the state where I was born. Failing to circumcise had been putatively linked to infections and increased chance for contracting STDs. It's easier to have it done when a child is first born than later, and although the law has been dropped for lack of corroborating evidence, I think it was a good idea.

DEFINETELY CHOOSE CIRCUMCISION

I did a lot of research, looking both at pros and cons, I looked all the websites, and I eventually came to the conclusion that CIRCUMCISION is very beneficial, healthier and cleaner.

Pros are definitely much stronger than any con.

Uncircumcised is gross, dirty and ugly.

Circumcised men have lower risk of contracting STD's, like AIDS or herpes. Scientist have discovered that the foreskin is specially sensitive to letting viruses and infections into the body.

In a way, the foreskin is an OPEN DOOR to STD's.

Read more about this at:

You see, some people are very RADICAL and fanatical on this topic (like THL). I came across with them when I did my research. They insist circumcision is wrong and blah blah blah, even though all these studies show how beneficial is, how healthy and HIV-risk reducing is.

My first son was not circumcised at birth in hospital, and had some very serious urinary infection problems (in addition to some other infection troubles). All eventually disappeared after circumcision.

My other two sons where circumcised at hospital, right after their birth, and none of them had any problem. *None felt any pain* during the procedure, they used anesthetic cream.

My advice as a mother of three sons: circumcision definitely!

Good luck!

Jeez!
In England, france, Italy, Spain Germany... and other european countries they dont circumcise... and you dont see the whole country dropping off with aids and penial cancer... Beside you should be educating children about STDs and teach them how to clean themselves..
Circumcision is the parents choice and millions of people don't do it...

I have no horrible stories because I didn't have my baby circumcised. I spole with my pedictrician before my son was ever born and he told me there was no reason to have the baby cut. All of the cleaning and disease stories are false and have been proven so by new studies. As long as it is kept properly cleaned (pulling back the skin and using a wipe at each change) and you teach your son how to care for himself there isn't any problem.
My husband was the first man I had ever seen without having a circumsised penis and I must admit that at first I jumped back thinking there was something wrong with it. LOL but I realised what it was and things are fine now. LOL.
It is "socially acceptable" to have it done and if you are religious then you need to take that into account as well.

Circumcision is a religious decsion for me and I've never had any problems, nor do I know of anyone who ever has. Keep in mind that a young boy will look to his father as a symbol of "man" and if Dad is different from son, it could send the wrong message. The general rule of thumb nowadays is to do whatever the father has done.
