TW
You could study who does the homework(=cleaning, cooking, etc.) in Europe -men, women -working mothers-stay home mothers??? -and how the division of home work relates to incomes, education etc of women and men -and correlates with parity? There are a lot of sociological interesting statistics around and Europe is very heterogenous. Hungary and Finland are so different, likewise Italy -and Norway , for example. EU and different states have a lot on the internet, likewise the governements -many in English -and sociology departments of Universities -and the Statistics Bureaus of different countries.
Good luck -but pick a meaningful question first.Stupid/insignificant questions are not worth looking into.

A most interesting project to you

from Europe
ps. there was an interesting statistic published here the other day concerning health awareness in different European countries -who knows about diseases?their prevention? etc. -it might be interesting to compare that with USA
or happiness/contentment studies or how many friends people have? studies have been conducted on these also! take your choice!!

This is too vague. How 'little known' do you mean? Little known to whom? Americans or Europeans? And how much research can you do? Does 'senior project' mean you're graduating from high school?

For instance, you might research the effects of immigration in one or more European countries -- or some part of the effects, such as religious friction between Muslims, Christians and secular people. Europeans are quite familiar with this, but many others are not.

I did a research project on the Potsdam Conference that took place towards the end of WWII--most people haven't heard of it (I hadn't before my teacher assigned it to me). I did it in high school, but it's one of those projects that can be expanded as much as you want it to. The conference took place in Europe between the major WWII world leaders and went on to influence European history--particularly Russian/USSR history (if I'm remembering correctly). The conference had a lot of impact on where national lines were drawn--amazing to me, because those decisions were made by leaders who had so little invested in the decision, while they impacted so greatly many "lesser" people's lives. Studying the world leaders and their personalities/interaction was also interesting. You'll need a good library/online library to do this project--I didn't, and that made it more difficult for me, since this conference hasn't received as much literary/press coverage as a lot of other WWII events.

Good luck, have fun, and hope that helps!

If you want it to be current you could pick one of the effects of the EU on just about any aspect of life: employment, trade, the people who have to use it (many Germans hate it for example). Or the inclusion/exclusion of eastern european nations into the EU. There's some controversy there.

OR

You could compare US immigration policies with those of, say, France, where there was a series of very violent immigrant riots last year.

I dunno. Hope this helps.
