I know it's really irresponsible, but I've just been sooo busy. I can make up a hundred excuses, but I won't.. I overslept the day of my appt. and haven't rescheduled due to the holidays and whatnot. Now I have pain in my lower stomach (where the incision was made, I had a c-section) and like, dull cramping. It's hard to explain. I haven't ruled out pregnancy again, but I dont think that's likely seeing as my son is only three months old. I know I need to make an appt. but should I wait or just go on into the ER?

Oh, feel better soon...but no worries about missing the appointment...you can always reschedule...I agree with "momma2mingbu's" answer as to contacting your doctors nurse as she/he is normally on call and available to answer your question. They tend to call you back within the first 24 to 72 hours, but if you have pain, visit your local quick care and speak with the doctor there informing he/she of your symptoms. A C-Section takes some serious time to get over as your body is slowly recovering and settling down to it's previous condition... so be patient. Still see if you can get your partner to go to the store and get an pregnancy test...just to see...you never know...so do keep that in mind and try these sites to see for yourself:

You should make an appointment with your physician as soon as possible. Don't ever rule out the possibility of being pregnant again, it can happen at any time after you have had a baby. It has been known for women to go to their 6 week checkups only to discover they are pregnant again. That's why your doctor usually advises you not to have sex within that time frame because your body is very susceptible to pregnancy. But any kind of pain that feels abnormal or concerning should be addressed by a physician, don't wait any longer. I would hate for it to be something life threatening like an infection. You have a wonderful 3 month old who depends on you, your health is just as important as your son's. Congratulations and good luck!!!

You should call the office to do two things: schedule an appointment and talk to one of the nurses. Tell the nurse what you're experiencing; she will let you know whether she can bump up the appointment, whether what you're describing is normal, or what. Schedule an appointment first, in case the nurse has to consult with the doctor before calling you back; at worst your appointment will then have to be rescheduled, but in the meantime you have one.

Did you have an "incision check up" after the delivery? Most people I know who had c-sections, myself included, had an incision check not long after delivery (I think it was one week...it might have been two...I don't remember). We still had to have our 6 week check up of course....but it was about three months before I got in for mine. (And technically after that point it can't be billed as part of your L&D follow up, they have to treat it as an OB visit.)

Also, could the cramping be your period coming on? Some women don't get it for months...some get it after just a few weeks (even if they're breastfeeding).

Congratulations on the baby!

Call your caregiver and talk to the nurse. Tell her what's going on. See how quickly she can get you in and how serious she thinks it sounds.
