And your tired of everything. I've done my time talking to counselors, so I have all the "tools" and I stopped taking anti-depressants 2 months ago after taking them for at least 10yrs+. Don't want to rely on a drug, plus think my body was immune to them anyway. Have a beautiful home that has turned into a big clutter........want to clean it, knowing it will make me feel better, but back to the problem........no motivation!

how old are you?
two ideas:

1.) you lack the appropriate chemical balance that enables one to will and act effectively. poor diet, environment, and hereditary dispositions all contribute to this problem. changing ones habits (diet, activity, etc) will very quickly reveal whether this is the case. if you 'feel better' after a good meal and a long walk in good scenery, than you will know that it is physical, and can be physically altered.

2.) you may be one of many (MANY) in this society who have come to realize that there is no satisfaction to be had. nice house, nice car, good health, 401k- who cares? one might also realize that the human connection; via friends, family, and community, are all shallow and unfulfilling; no one really cares- except for themselves. therefore one loses all interest in maintaining the facade: "just hang in there and everything will be fine" is seen to be one of the more subversive untruths. one lacks the motivation to do anything once one realizes that there is no point......

If this is your problem, there is very little hope. how can one obtain a cure from the very source that is causing the affliction? at best one can only inocculate oneself, like taking venom into the veins to inoculate against snake-bite. one inoculates against the world by just sitting down on the couch and turning on the television. its a very simple procedure, millions of us numb ourselves in this way every day; the days of one life quickly pass.
if the cure is not to be found here, then where? there is a cure, but one must be sick of self to find it.
eat right and exercise; maybe that is all you really need.

I'd spend some time meditating and learn why (nice thing, meditating can accomplish more than you imagine but feels like doing-nothing). Most people only cover up their issues instead of understanding them and then healing them. Usually people feel that way (loss of motivation) because they are not physically well (too tired to care), or have no expectation of something enjoyable or good coming from their efforts (or hope someone else will do it for them, I know a few of those).
Ask yourself some questions...if you could do anything..... what would it be....if nothing comes to mind, work at it, sit with a clipboard and paper and spend a few weeks writing to yourself about your life. If nothing comes of it work on "why not?". You can spend some time on this, understanding yourself (to a workable degree) is the most important thing you can accomplish, it is the key to everything that comes next (the rest of your life).
Also, consider finding an energy healer, it can be difficult to separate the scam artists from the real healers in this field (there are incompetent therapists in every field), but sometimes clogged energy creates a road block that is hard to find a route around. You might be amazed how much lighter your feel.......... Advice, look for someone who encourages you to learn for yourself.....a low mumbo jumbo person.....or, if you are religious, a healer in your religion.

Go For A Long Power walk and take a hot shower. Watch extreme home makeover and drink a carrot juice. Then go for it with rubber gloves, garbage bags and huge Tupperware bins to clean and organize! Play Madonna very loud!!! Move the furniture around and keep Windex and paper towels handy. Wash everything and read from a fung-shuei book each night before bed... If all else fails go to an anthropology store.

One has to understand who we are and the meaning of life to have real motivation. Most people are motivated in a mundane way. You may be more spiritually advanced and looking for reality. This world is called illusion and is temporary and full of misery. Only one Fourth of the souls come to the material world. We are not these bodies, ie; race, color, religion, nationality, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul. IF we want to get out of illusion and suffering we have to reconnect. The quickest and easiest way is to chant the Maha mantra.(the great mantra for deliverance from suffering and illusion) go to krishnaculture. for details. Read Bhagavad Gita as it is BY Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada for the purpose of human life. It worked for me. I had the same problem.

it sounds like you are suffering from clinical depression.
no one wants to have to rely on drugs, you feel like your giving in. but that isnt the case.
some issues can be dealt with, with out using drugs. but some issues happen from chemical issues in the brain that are out of your control that need a drug to control them.
it sounds like you need the medication, and you need to see your therapist so that they can find a drug that will work well for you.
even though you dont feel motivated, you know cleaning your house will make you feel better. so help YOURSELF in the small ways that you can,...just get up and push yourslef to do it.

Yes I have the answer, it's you. Make yourself get out there. Book yourself in for a full weeks worth of things to do next week and stick to it. Don't cancel any appointment you make go there and do it. I promise you it will work, because by doing things or rather having things to do will snowball for you, you'll actually want things to do. Start small, you'll see.

life must go on as we all know. try going back on what you have before and see what you'll lose if you stop doing whatever it is you were doing before. think of all the good times, see your friends and see how happy they are with their lives. Think of your family, don't let them suffer because of you. lastly, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, am i doing the right thing?
Cry it out and release all the emotions and feel light.....
