Lately during sex, I have been drying up. I really want to finish, but it becomes painful for both me and my significant other. We have tried using lube but it just isn't our style. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on how I can maintain an aroused state while in the act with my significant other.

Lube is not your style, but painful intercourse is? Oh-kay.

If you're seriously dry, consider talking to a doctor. It can be caused by low estrogen levels, which can be helped by going on the pill. In the mean time:
1. Look into your soap. You may be having a reaction to it... you should try a soap that is marketed as hypoallergenic and has no fragrances or dyes. If it lists a pH, it should be around 4.5-5.
2. Don't use scented toilet paper or pantiliners. Try a different brand of laundry detergent on your underwear and use two rinse cycles when you wash them.
3. Drink enough water. If you are dehydrated it's hard for you to get wet.
4. Have a glass of wine... don't get drunk, it'll numb you out, but a glass or two is a nice relaxant and aphrodisiac.
5. If he's not going down on you, encourage him to start. If you aren't as turned on as you were during the first heady days of lovemaking, you both'll need to try harder to be sexy. Make sure you try new things sexually to keep your interest level up.

If you don't like using the lubricant. You need to see an gynecologist. It may be hormones. I have friends that have had this problem after a hysterectomy and they started taking hormones and it helped. If you haven't had a hysterectomy it still could be a change in you hormone level. Women hormone level changes during the month from week to week. If you use birth control this is a factor too.

Try something different. I mean maybe your just sick of the same thing over and over again, wait a longer time before you are intimate again. The waiting may help you, you body could also be getting used to having sex and need a break if thats the case.

sometimes after i have been doing it for a while then it starts to do that because i start to get worn out and i need a break. so it might just be that your body is telling you that you should take a little breather.

you don't say how old you are but women do tend to get drier when they are closer or in menopause - relax, use some long lasting lubricants for both of you and talk to your doctor about it too. Good luck and remember, there are other ways to please each other.
