Does anyone here use NFP to prevent pregnancy? I have done some research, but would like to hear from the masses. Does it require a lot of effort? The information I have found says that used correctly, it is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. Has anyone used it correctly and still gotten pregnant?

I want to learn it because of my religious convictions, but I really, really, really can't afford to get pregnant any time soon. I am married, and have a three year old and want to wait until I finish school before having another child. Can someone give me some first hand knowledge?

There is a book called "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. It's good for learning about NFP how to conceive and how not to conceive.

I read that you have a 30% chance of getting pregnant a few days before and after ovulation, and a 3% chance the rest of the time. So if you can accurately predict your cycle, it would be 97% effective. That's as good as most other birth control out there. The trick is the accurate prediction part!

A gynecologist or even Planned Parenthood may be able to help advise you on some of the science and signals behind it.
