I am pretty sure my daughter did when she was that age, as soon as we brought her home from the hospital she was trying to hold her head up. They will amaze you thats for sure. Congratulations.

Tradition will tell you that babies can't/don't smile until they are 6 weeks old, but I am pretty sure that it is just an average, after having 5 children of my own I am sure they smile a lot earlier, and it has been said that they can imitate your facial expressions from birth.

Definately!! If you are spending loads of time cooing away to a baby, they are going to respond! They DO smile ... most people say it's wind, but then only one side of the mouth usually twitches ... a smile is a smile and if your recognise this as a smile, it is a simle!!

Yes they can

My son smiled from birth and it was a completely different smile to the windy and sleepy smiles he used to give, so much more special although i cant say he was smiling at me as he couldnt see me hehe!

Who Knows? Ours used to seem to but we were told they were grimacing with wind. On thinking about it, a smile is much more about the eyes than the face muscles. If he/she's eyes are smiling then the answer's yes!

They reckon 6 weeks, but I reckon all babies are different... I think mine smiled at about 4 weeks, and tried a bit before that. You could just see her eyes light up, it took a bit longer for her mouth to catch up!

Yes, mine did. It is a myth that babies only smile that young because of gas.
