i am on the part where Metallo has become enlarged...he seems virtually impossible to beat. If i throw cars at him he gets angry and i lose. And if i get near him the Krytonite in him hurts me...what do i do???

Destroy those things flying around him then throw cars at him. Make sure to aim at the front of his body (not his back).HE WILL GET MAD, when he does fly around really fast until he stops shooting that green thing at you. Repeat this until you defeat him.
