Do I have to beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Emerald to catch Rayquaza?

Question

I've been getting mixed answers, both yes and no, however, when I make it past the first two levels of the sky pillar, there are broken tiles but there is no way to get to the door to reach the other level! There are rocks in the way and there is no way I can pass. What should I do?

if it is ruby or saphire yes you do have to beat them. just think...how unfair would it be to have 1 lvl 70 against lvl i think 50 or something pokemon. u would kill them easier than u would have originally.

1.well it depends on what kind of team you have. If you have a team that consists with these or at least some of these it should be easy. For the first elite 4 member use either fighting or bug. The second elite 4 member use dark. The third one use fire, rock, or fighting or steel. For the fourth one use dragon, ice,electric, or grass. (use grass or electric on kingdra only) And for the champion use electric or grass but for wishcash use grass. Probbaly use some pokemon like these ones either breloom, sceptile, blaziken, walrien, manectric, machoke, machamp, absol, mightyena, ninjask, rapidash, magmar, flygon, salamence, pikachu, raichu, glalie, aggron, swampert, and some more. I beat the elite four with out rayquaza and for some odd reason I beat them with a level 97 manectric( no joke) that didn't evolve from electrike until level 47. 2. Yes rayquaza will still be there after you beat the elite four unless if you battle him and you kill him in the sky pillar and save after he's been killed then he's gone. So save in front him before the battle.

I don't know about the rocks (rock smash? Never been to the pillar myself), but for the broken tiles, you need the Mach Bike.

I'm not sure about the elite 4 rayquaza thing, but I'd reccomend after anyway. Go to gamefaqs.com for further help.

idk about emerald ( but since ruby/sapphire are almost identical to this game).... U have to beat the Elie four in order to catch rayquaza. (sheesh how hard could it be beating the elite four...)
