An mp3 player. Anytime there is a vowel SOUND at the beginning of the word, an is used, regardless of what the letter is. M is pronounced as em so an is used.

"An" because it starts with an m which is pronounced 'em', and 'an' is used when the proceeding word has the SOUND of a vowel.

And to those who are saying "a" you don't say "a hour" you say "an hour" because hour is pronounced with the SOUND of a vowel at the beginning. Same concept.

I'd say "an." This is correct because you are pronouncing MP as empee, and when a word begins with a vowel, it is preceded by "an."
