My computer is getting old but I don't want to get a new one yet.
What are the warning signs and what can I do about it?

It depends on many things...
01. It may happen out of the blue with a game or program that does not like your system setup.
02. Your computer runs really slow and restarts often
03. You cannot multi-task
04. You do not have an anti-virus system on your computer
05. You get the feeling of impending doom each time you log on to anything...it does happen...
I recommend a good Go Back program (most 2002+ systems have these); they are pretty cheap and worth not having to lose all your info. I would also get a good antivirus system (Norton or MacAfee, whichever you like the most). These will take care of viruses, spyware, and popups.

That's hard to say, it can come out of nowhere sometimes. If your computer is running much slower than normal would be a good sign that your hard drive is going bad (or it could just mean that you are running too much at the same time, or that you might have spyware or viruses). There is no sure-fire way to tell if your computer is going to crash or not.

When you get the BSOD....start backing up everything right away...cause you may have a serious issue....also if you have an HP...you are likely to have a hardware problem....if you have a Dell...it will run slowly, Compaq is part of HP now...so expect hardware problems....and who trusts a computer that come in a Cow box?

if the hard disk is making a lot of clicking noises it's getting ready to go. time to back up your data and buy a new drive

it can just crash without warning not just that da motherbode can just stop or da power supply in ur pc .back up ur files befor it does happen
