If your wireless router is configured to connect to internet itself, then it is a NAT(Network Address Translation)server,so just set it's LAN IP address as Default Gateway in your DHCP server or if do not have that, set it manually for each NIC of your computers.

Example:
Router's IP on LAN is:192.168.1.1
Router's subnet mask:255.255.255.0

Client 1 IP should be set to:192.168.1.2
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.1.1

Client 2 IP should be set to:192.168.1.3
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.1.1

And do not forget to set your wireless channel(can find this setting in router's control panel) as "Shared" not "OPEN"
and go on.

Click on My Network Places on the second computer. At the left select Add Wireless Network Place and start the wizard. It will walk you thru the process. Don't forget to have the router broadcast the SSID or the PC won't find the network Also, if you are using WEP, have your password available so you can configure your wireless card correctly.

Make sure that PC has a wireless adapter installed. Then just go to Control Panel then Network Connections and then double click the wireless network icon and follow the instructions from there.

make sure that the wireless card is working properly and is enabled...once you have done this....windows XP will recognize that there are wireless networks in range..(if they are indeed in range)

*note* windows xp requires the wireless zero configuration service to be turned on in order to view wireless networks... to do this you will need to go to the control panel...under administrative tools, then services....doubleclick on the "Wireless Zero Configuration" and select automatically from the drop down menu, and click on Start then ok.

You probably need a USB adapter, but call the router manufacturer and tell them what you are trying to do. They will help you get it set up correctly, and while you are on the phone with them, set up WPA security, so your wireless signal can't be hijacked.
