They are SNOBS, and spend way too much money on clothing... I never had a word from a prep until my jr yr of high school, and that was only bc they realized that I was actually pretty smart. I was a total geek in school, and NO ONE would talk to me. The only folks who did for a long time were the outcasts of the school-- the foster kids, the wheelchair- bound kids, etc. Those are the only people in a high school that will accept you for who you are on the inside. I think what made the preps so awful was that attitude of, "I'll be nice to you, but I will never want to be your friend." That false front is often more insulting that any outward gesture of disdain. If you want to break out of that reputation, try not to be condescending toward those outside your clique, and actually make friends with others, don't just "be nice" to them.

Most of the time boys think that preps can be easy but I don't think that that are that bad. If your a nice person then, you shouldn't be that worried about it. Also maybe the preps at other schools aren't all that nice!

There will always be generalizations about people, especially when people label others, therefore because I'm considered to be a "goth" I should be an evil satanist who is depressed and suicidal, however in reality that's just not true. There will always be those who conform to the stereotype of their label and people who judge them by the generalization. However I think most "Preps" enjoy their label because it makes them feel safe and popular within their group and they try their best to live up to the standard of being vain, fashion obsessed drones who have nothing to do but act ignorantly towards others because it makes them look "cool". But in the end they are like sheep stupidly willing to follow anything.

Its not that everyone hates preps, its their lack of flavor. Preps wear cookie cutter clothes, listen to cookie cutter music, and participate in cookie cutter activities. Its not the person people hate, because I know preps that are cool, but its the lack of an unique personality.

The term is associated with being phony. A preppy is someone who dresses, acts and talks a certain way just because that way is what scores them the more cookie points (with college, with family, with society).
So, even if a prep is nice, s/he is still annoying and, well, phony, as false as a three dollar bill.

Heh, I used to be one. The old days...I was so ignorant and fake. I've dropped that act. Now when I see a prep, I pity them. I wish they could just be themselves and not dress and act like 90% of their friends. It's so sad.

they are self centered, snobs, talk too loud, say "like" almost every other word, have that really annoying little voice, they talk about other people behind their backs, are almost always cheerleaders, think they are better than everyone else, they wear too much pink, they scream if they get wet,and they care about what they look like too much.
now if thats not a run-on sentence then i don't know what is.
theres my opinion...
