Ok, we all grow up and see crack heads and see drug users and see how drugs mess up people's lives and kill them. We also see this a lot in Hollywood and on TV and famous people who overdose and who looks really bad. But why do people still do these things...Why do they grow up and see the affects and still try it knowing that they will be hooked? Especially those who have money? Why do they do these drugs? Peer pressure is not an option b/c I think that's BullSht! The pressure to stay thin? I Think that's Bullsht too! What is the deal?
Also, you grow up to see these people and how they look and act and are shamed of them and you wanna laugh and leave them alone but then people who grow up seeing this, they fall into the same crap...What is the deal?

If you ever find the one sure, scientifically provable answer to this question, call me first and we will both make a billion dollars.

There are any number of theories, including, but not limited to:

Genetics -- some people may be just born that way

Emotional issues -- surveys of female drug addicts show that an extraordinarily high percentage of them were sexually abused as children

Fun that got out of hand -- they simply partied until they got the physical addiction

Boredom -- the inborn need in humans for some sort of constant nervous stimulation -- "entertainment", if you will. For example, before 1900, the most common drug addict was a married, middle-aged, rural-living white female. In other words -- a farmer's wife. The reason was probably that living on an isolated farm can be pretty boring.

Simple bad behavior -- they just have bad habits and ought to quit

And so forth.

There are people who make compelling arguments for each particular cause. It could be any of the causes, or it could be some combination of the causes in each person.
