That's a good question because I love that movie and I always thought Mandy Moore wrote it but it's a Switchfoot song

Switchfoot wrote that song (Jon Foreman, lead singer), and they do an awesome version of it too. Any other songs by Switchfoot are just as awesome, but a different style.
