Would doing so start us, collectively, on the path to set right the wrongs that have happened and create a more just and good society and world?

That sounds like an honorable and worthwhile goal, a perfect world if you will. Unfortunately, men (that is a collective term and I know it is not politically correct) will always want more than the next person/country. More space, more money, more power. There seems to be no end to mans wants. And whether by force or corrosion will attempt to see that they get it. Even in idyllic societies in the past, man broke down eventually and hence here we are today. Facing pretty much the same selfish mentalities and problems that people have throughout the past.

No, I am with LindaLou on that. We cannot change the past and the only thing we can change is who we will be today and tomorrow. Redeem carries the idea of paying money to right past wrongs, nations and people sometimes have to do to settle grievous wrongs but as humanity no. That has been done once by Jesus dieing on the cross to forgive mankind.

No. I don't think that's the right approach. We must leave the past in the past. Learn from it and not repeat it, but we also can't focus all of our attention on it or we give the negativity room to grow. We must move forward and generate positive creativity and forgiveness and love towards our fellow people. That's ALL people. Not just the chosen few.

I think this what the Bible is telling people to do through Christ Jesus. I think some people are doing this and others will continue on the same course as History shows us.

No.

The problems that "humanity" has are inherent to being a living creature.

Life is selfish. Life steals and destroys for its own purposes. Such is life, and such are living things.

Nature provides the checks and balances. Anything else is irrelevant.

Yes, we should. But to do so will mean we have to give up the differences that we allow to divide us. Not going to happen with many people!

"Humanity" is not responsible and should not be held accountable.

"Humans" should take responsibility and often do.
