i'm not pregnant i'm just curious what people think of the name gretchen. my bf hates it lol. but i think it's pretty cool. not really pretty but you know different. and her nickname could be greta..

Gretchen is an okay name. It would be perfect if you wanted a name that's not too common and I like Greta as a nickname. Nice.

I love the name Gretchen, and the nn Greta is too cute! One of my close friends is naming her daughter Gretchen :) Maybe you can talk your bf into using it as a middle name if he won't go for it as a first name...

well in general, "greta" sounds like an old lady's name, but Gretchen is an extrememly pure, nice name. I know a girl named Gretchen whose really pretty and smart.

I was thinking about the name Gretchen today and I think it is really pretty so we're going to have an argument about that one. Instead of calling her Greta why not call her Luchen with the ch sound in chicken and the short "e" sound.

I think it's a beautiful name. Yes it's a little old fashioned but I think it's a name that is making a big come back. To me it sounds like a very strong name. I wouldn't completely count it out if I were you. Keep it as an option. BTW, tell your bf that I like the name Henry. There's nothing wrong with it. My grandpa's middle name was Henry.

I know a Gretchen and she hates her name. I'm not too fond of it myself. I prefer more feminine cute names like Kaylyn and Alyssa or for more unique names Reagan or Miley. Gretchen sounds like an old foreign lady's name.
