Is it easy to reinstall windows xp from a disc. Is it really just a case of inserting cd and letting it do the work.

why reinstall the whole of windows when you can just reinstall internet explorer?? maybe before taking such drastic options as reinstalling you should put a question on here with the issues you have and see if people can tell you how to fix them. if your PC is only 5 months old you should have a recovery option - either a CD or a disk or somthing that allows you to return it back to the way you got it from the shop if not you should have a years warrenty take it back to the shop and see what they say.

i found in my limited experience and knowledge that you change your boot to "CDROM", insert the cd, start the pc again and then you will get the screen regarding the partitioning of the hard drive. NTFS is the best so "quick" partition it and thereafter the installation will start. I trust it is of some help. I note down below that some actually refers you to a website. It might be a good odea to read up on it. At the same time I must add that I did as I decsribed above and I have no problems, not at home or the office with my two pcs.

to put it simply Yes it is that easy, insert the disc and change the boot-up option in your cmos setting's by restarting your computer and pushing either F1 or F2 depending on your motherboard and change from harddrive to CD/DVD Drive, also depending on what you have and follow the instructions on screen, also go through and put all the files that you want to keep on a seperate partition.

Good Luck.

Mental,
It is not to hard. The only thing you will need to do is store
your documents pics and any programs stored on your
hard drive. You see the first disc will erase everything
second will set up the down loads and the third will down
load back to the you got it.
Hope this helps.

Just about. It will ask you somethings like your name and CD Key. It will ask you to validate. It will ask you about a few settings (such as do you want games installed, what is the current time, etc.). Other than that, it just does it all. It's almost as easy as installing Ubuntu.

well yeah, it's quite easy, it is going to ask you for some things, like your serial, if you wish to format the partition. I'd recommend choosing the same partition your xp is already on and overwrite the existing installation, don't format, that way you won't loose your data.

luck!
