It is the blueprint of the right wing think tank. Many of todays administration are members of PNAC and have signed their names to the letters and reports contained therein. There is even one letter to Clinton ,urging immediate action be taken in IRAQ.3 years before 9/11.They admit plainly that they will need a new pearl harbour to acheive their goals. That was 9/11.

here are some interesting quotes from PNAC
"The United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein."

"At present the United States faces no global rival. America's grand strategy should aim to preserve and extend this advantageous position as far into the future as possible."

"[N]ew methods of attack -- electronic, 'non-lethal,' biological -- will be more widely available ... 'combat' likely will take place in new dimensions: in space, 'cyber-space,' and perhaps the world of microbes ... advanced forms of biological warfare that can 'target' specific genotypes may transform biological warfare from the realm of terror to a politically useful tool."

This is not the secret Illuminati site or the Free Masons. This is a conservative think tank and that's all. They want to see America be a great country in the world in the 21st century. What is the crime in that?

Back in the 90's, they believed Iraq had WMDs and a WMD program, as did the Clinton administration. And surprise, they actually advocated Clinton do something about it! There's something wrong about that?

They've been putting out their position papers and recommendations since the Clinton administration. There is nothing sinister here!

The fact that many are in now in government is no surprise either. New administrations often raid like-minded think tanks for talent.

Unfortunately Government and people are not always in synch. Right now there is a brewing change in American Politics from trying to solve everyone else's problems, to focusing more on our own. I think the recent elections reflected that shift in mentality. In regards to your POV i would say using one source on the web to make an opinion on is not really productive. Try looking at the bigger picture. What do Americans want? They want to be happy and live successful lives, they don't really care about Afghanistan and they probably dont know where it is either.

Before 9/11 the US was happily isolationist. Some megacompanies are interested in "global" but the average guy didnt give a rip. Their heart was never about the world.

Then some asses tried to destroy the world. They tried to provoke the US to artificially launch their nuclear arsenal and destroy the civilized world. You should read up on your Al-Queda. I've read their training manuals, have you? Someone from the world walked up and gave us a big black eye, while trying to kill us. They are still trying to kill us. Wait 6 months. Wait 2 years. They are constantly trying again. All it takes is succeeding once.

Americans in general do not care about people at all, but do care about material stuff. The loss of connection with China would hurt because of loss of goods. The loss of connection with Saudi would hurt because of loss of oil. The loss of connection with South America would hurt because of loss of third-rate avacados. We dont want to live there, we dont want slaves, or even solid connections. We want our own "happy" little lives.

I am American. I have known thousands of Americans. Policy people may do things, but the average guy doesnt give a rip. There could be no such thing as Laos and it wouldnt hurt their feelings.

The Korean War? Thats ancient history. Every 4 years our government changes. If it didnt happen in our lifetime it barely counts as history. Im old, but the Korean war was from my grandfathers time. Have you ever watched the movie "Fog of War" with McNamara? It has interesting insights about the Korean conflict from people who were invested in it.

As an average, my peers do not know who Margaret Thatcher, or Mr. Gorbachev were. Talking about Khruschev, they have never heard his name. Many do not even know him at all, but a few know stalin as a mythic figure, one who created Russia and washed his hands in blood.

The ignorance of history possessed by the average American is astronomical. Many can not name more than five presidents including Clinton and Bush. They rarely know the name of a single person elected to congress. Seriously. I go to one of the better colleges in America, and I am using that, the upper 30% of Americans to base my opinions.
