I assume you are talking about natural nails, polish doesn't stick to natural nails very well generally and the thinner, more flexible (which is a good nail quality) or the more you use your hands the tougher it is. Please don't be tempted to buff the surface like they do in cheap nail shops, it holds polish better but damages the nail and they can peel and split later.
Is your polish chipping? (not using hands well, practice pretending your nail polish is wet ( trains you to not use your nail tips so your nails don't' wear and polish won't chip as much) or Peeling? probably oils in the nails at application or cheap or old base coat. Lifting at bottom of nail? Under-cuticle on nail (need manicure) or polishing into cuticle.
1. Prep it right, wash your hands with soap before you apply, if you apply over hair spray or lotion it won't stick well.
2. Use a good base coat, try LCD, nail tek, OPI, Creative....avoid anything that says it "strengthens", that means it drys the nails. Avoid cheap removers too, many leave residue in the nail.
3. Let the coats dry a few minutes before applying the next.
4. Use gloves and avoid "beating up" your nails..

It probably doesnt last because you have Oily nailbeds... I would recommend using Bondaid it is a dehydrator to the nailbed that will suck up some of the oil so the nailpolish has something to adhere too... This is only availabe at Salons and by professionals... Another method you could use is Pure Acetone as a dehydrant! Also use a Base Coat... I like Stickey by Creative Nail.... Let that dry and apply two coats of polish and then a top coat... My favorite Top Coat is Out The Door and Seche Vete... You can get these at any nail salon! Good Luck to you!

I use a product called Hard as nails and it works great. You apply it after your color polish is dry. I also have a nail polish that has a hardener in it and the polish stays on for weeks. One note: It is very difficult to remove the polish once the hardener is on, it will take a lot of rubbing to remove the polish. Good luck

Have you ever heard of this nail file called Onsen. Well they sell it in almost every mall and it's a three way nail file that files your nails, then it gets rid of the nail dust and then the third area buffs your fingernail until its shiny.. but that only works if you don't have nail polish on. If you do have nail polish on they have this lotion that you can buy and it'll make your nail polish last up to two weeks.

Put on a bottom coat (sally hansen diamond strength nail hardener), then apply the color you want, and last but not least apply a clear top coat.

Intead of applying nail polish from cuticle to tip, apply it from side to side. And apply a clear top coat.
