If yellow parking restriction lines are in poor condition, bits missing etc they are not normally enforceable, there ar now exceptions however as it is possible to have restricted parking with just signs (most common in conservation areas) or just the lines.

In the UK, we have yellow lines to indicate waiting restrictions, these are painted at the side of the road.

The lines in the middle are white.

I assume as this question is in the UK Yahoo Answers section that the question relates to UK practice.

It doesn't matter what the lines are like.
The actual restiction is on the notice on the pole or wall
Double yellow means no waiting at any time, but you may be allowed to load/unload and to wait while passengers board or alight unless there are loading restrictions in place as well.

you can park on a yellow line if the lines havent got a verticle line on the end of them to show where they stop.

no, another perfect example is that you cannot park within 15 feet of fire hydrant even if the curb is not painted at all. you still need to abide by the laws even if the paint is not perfect.

No ... unless you are picking up or setting down passengers, or loading / unloading.

To qualify for the latter, you must be delivering or collecting something difficult to carry. A takeaway or dry-cleaning is not "loading" ... delivering wicker chairs, however, can be
