My mother is planning on moving to pennsylvania, we currently live in NYC, but she wants to buy a small house over there, anyway, Anybody here lives there and can tell me how it is? and if you have lived in both NYC and pennsylvania, can you compare them and tell me the differences.

Okay. NYC is a City. Pennsylvania is a state. So, it depends what you're looking for here. If you want a big city, metropolitan area you've got both Philly and Pittsburgh. Neither is as large (or as expensive) as the big apple. You will get active cultural, social, political organizations in either. If you're hoping to move to a quieter life... Pennsylvania is made up of largely rural and suburban areas. You can be in farm country less than a hour from Philadelphia or Pittsburgh. Also, both have a variety of suburbs where you can find homes at many different price points. You need to do a bit more thinking about what you're looking for...Good luck!

PA is a very diverse state. Philly is like NYC, but cheaper. Pittsburgh is more like the midwest, and really cheap. The Northeast part of the state is turning into a suburb of NYC, but still pretty reasonable for housing. The central part of the state is very conservative and may be a total shock to someone from NYC.
