How about Susan Polis Schutz she has published many wonderful poems. Her mission is to spread compassion and love to all. She wrote and gave many books away free. The reason she donated many of her works was to spread understandingness, peace, and tolerance for all people. She and her husband, Stephen Schutz, designer and illustrator of her works, distributed millions of free copies of "one World, One Heart" Poem Booklet throughout the world.
Her introduction to knowing her was as follows:
We all hear the same sounds. We look up and see the same sky. We cry the same tears. Our feelings and emotions are the same. All mothers and sisters. All fathers and brothers. All children are one.
Yet there is hate. There is violence. There is intolerance. There is confusion among people. We do not try hard enough to try to understand each other. WE do not seem to realize that we all have the same basic needs, no matter who we are or what part of the world we come from.
We must understand the differences among us and celebrate the sameness. We must make the world a place where love and friendship dominate our hearts. Equality, respect, compassion, and kindness must guide our actions. Only then will we all be able to peacefully and lovingly live the life we each choose.
In the center of her book she has the word "love" written in 26 popular languages.

How about E.E. Cummigns?
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
Allen Ginsberg
When I die
I don't care what happens to my body
throw ashes in the air, scatter 'em in East River
bury an urn in Elizabeth New Jersey, B'nai Israel Cemetery
But l want a big funeral
Sylvia Plath
I have done it again.
One year in every ten
I manage it--
A sort of walking miracle, my skin
Bright as a Nazi lampshade,
My right foot
there..just a few lines to let you see how they write.....

Break out of the pack and research a contemporary poet. I recommend Tony Hoagland.

I like Emerson, but if no nature...
I would recommend Poe or maybe Longfellow. If you're determined - Dickinson maybe?
