I am 17 years old and i havent gotten my period in nearly 11 months. Ive gone to the doctors and they have tested me for all different kinds of things and can't seem to find what causing my missed period. The other strange thing is that i randomly get really hot which is a symptom of menopause. Is it possible for a 17 year old to be going through menopause. if so...does this mean ill never get my period back?? thank youu.

I don't think it could be early, early menopause. However, it sounds like you are definitely having some hormonal problems. Have you gone to a good OB-GYN about this? I would go to the specialist and see if there are any tests they can do. I'm sure they can test your blood and check for hormonal levels there. They may also do a CAT Scan on your head to check your pituatary glands. I had this done when I didn't get my period back after having my baby.

In some women the early menopause occurs spontaneously. In other women, menopausal symptoms develop after surgical removal of the ovaries or following chemotherapy or after radiotherapy for the treatment of cancer.

Resulting from a loss of reproductive function of the ovaries, early menopause can cause a number of distressing physical and psychological symptoms that can significantly affect a woman's sense of health and wellbeing. Due to long term effects of oestrogen deficiency, the risks of developing osteoporosis or heart disease are considerably higher than for women reaching menopause at the expected age. For this reason, it is of extreme importance that advice is sought from your doctor. Treatment is usually long-term hormone replacement, with the risks particularly of breast cancer not increasing until after 50. hot flushes and night sweats
aches and pains
crawling or itching sensations under the skin
headaches
vaginal dryness
reduced sex drive (libido)
urinary frequency
tiredness
irritability
depression
sleeping difficulty
lack of self esteem

Are you anorectic? Or overweight? These two things can factor into why you are experiencing 'amenorrhea' or absence of menses. You may also be experiencing some other problem, so go to your nearest planned parenthood or doctor so they can check you out. You may have also, endometriosis or cysts in your ovaries or uterus which can cause this problem. You cannot be going through menopause. Impossible. Good luck!

Have you had your thyroid checked? Have you been tested for PCOS?

If not, go see a Endocrinologist, a specialist in hormonal disorders.

It is extremely rare for a 17-year-old to go into menopause.

Have you been tested for endometriosis? A friend of mine had it and her periods were slowed down considerably. Call a Dr. or ask a nurse but don't worry about it too much until you have a valid opinion. Stress will make it

It could be anything, from eating habits to overexercizing to stress. If it is menopause, you're one for the medical textbook. Extremely unlikely. I'd be happy, no cramps, bloating, etc.
